KEY VISIONS
Focus on Developmental
Learning & Transitions
My Beliefs
-
We need to look at preK-2nd grade, 3rd-5th grade, and 6th-8th grade as unique cohorts with specific developmental needs
-
Questions we need to be asking: “What does my child need to learn long term? What will they need to be successful in high school and beyond?”
-
I have professional experience working with learners with IEP’s and I have personal experience being a mom of learners in the TAP programs. I believe ALL learners in our district need high expectations for growth and achievement and the tools to get there.
-
We need strong articulation protocols to transition our learners into kindergarten, transition them from 5th to 6th grade, and transition them from 8th-9th grade.
My Ideas
-
The board receives monthly updates on district differentiation and shares these updates with the community
-
We create Primary, Intermediate, and Middle School team leaders that serve as a representative of the developmental needs of those learners when making systemic board decisions
-
We create a Middle School To High School Transition Task Force to serve as a guidepost for middle school planning and as a source of parent and student information.
